It's always exciting when our design philosophy and practical advice resonate beyond our client community. This month, we're honored to have been featured in two national publications, Southern Living and House Beautiful, where we shared some of our favorite tips for making your home both beautiful and functional.
Displaying Heirloom China in Southern Living

In the recent Southern Living article, "5 Ways to Decorate With Your Favorite China," I shared one of my favorite strategies for giving neglected heirlooms new life.
Many of us have inherited beautiful china that sits unused in cabinets or drawers. While these pieces carry sentimental value, they may not match our entertaining style or everyday habits. Rather than letting these treasures remain hidden, consider transforming them into art.
As I mentioned in the article, "When our client told us she never used her grandmother's china, we dug it out of a bottom drawer in her kitchen and gave it new life with custom framing. Now, she gets to enjoy it every day, even if using it for dinner isn't her vibe."

This approach works beautifully for:
Mismatched pieces from a partial set
Plates with particularly beautiful patterns or sentimental value
China that doesn't practically fit your entertaining needs
The key is using deep shadowbox frames that accommodate the dimension of the plates while properly securing them. A professional framer can help ensure your heirlooms are displayed safely and beautifully.
Closet Organization Wisdom in House Beautiful

House Beautiful recently featured our practical advice in their article "12 Closet Items You Should Toss ASAP, According to Professional Organizers."
My contribution focused on being realistic about clothing maintenance: "If you're not an ironer, don't buy or keep anything that requires ironing before each wear. You'll get more use out of the clothing you do have, and your mornings will be less stressful."

This advice reflects a broader philosophy that runs through all of our organization work: your systems should match your actual habits, not an idealized version of how you might live.
When organizing closets for our clients, we always consider:
The realistic amount of time they'll dedicate to clothing maintenance
Their morning routines and how clothing selection fits within them
The true lifestyle needs their wardrobe should support
If you're inspired to tackle your own closet organization, you might revisit our comprehensive guide in our Organizing Your Closet blog post from our organization series.
The Common Thread: Practical Beauty

What connects these two pieces of advice is our commitment to creating homes that are both beautiful and practical.
Whether we're designing a complete interior or offering organizational advice, we believe your home should reflect who you actually are, not who you think you should be. This means:
Finding beautiful ways to incorporate meaningful items, even if they're not used for their original purpose
Creating systems that work with your natural habits rather than fighting against them
Reducing daily friction by designing for your real life
