When we designed the clubhouse at Cypress Point, we knew we’d created something special with our signature New Prep aesthetic. So when the developer asked us to stage the model home to help with sales, we were thrilled! Until we heard the budget. Let’s just say it was going to be a challenge.
But here’s the thing about working with Rachel Cannon Limited: we see limitations as creative opportunities! The question became: how do we maintain our luxury aesthetic while working within strict financial parameters?
The answer? Strategic sourcing and an eye for quality pieces that punch above their weight class.
Our Standout Discoveries

Subtle scalloped details add visual interest without being overwhelming. The range of colors tied together our entire palette, and they photograph beautifully while feeling much more expensive than their price point. Oh, did I mention? These cuties come in 12 adorable color combinations!

With perfect proportions for a smaller space and a rich finish, this became our living room statement piece and helped anchor the entire furniture arrangement.

This was perhaps our biggest surprise. The weight and quality fooled everyone, with a few people asking if it was vintage! The classic apothecary silhouette perfectly complemented our New Prep aesthetic while adding sophisticated task lighting.

Clean, functional, and beautifully proportioned. This proved home office furniture doesn’t have to sacrifice style for budget. The pale oak finish added warmth while complementing our neutral palette.

Essential for our pattern mixing. The traditional motif felt fresh rather than stuffy, and the printing quality exceeded expectations.

The Results
When the model home was complete, visitors consistently commented on how expensive everything looked. Several asked for our source list, assuming we’d used exclusively high-end vendors. Little did they know that many of our standout pieces came from Amazon!
This project reinforced what we’ve always believed: good design is about making thoughtful choices and having the vision to see potential in unexpected places. Great style is always about curating from an authentic place, and knowing how to spot a deal when you see one.
